Course information

This category of CPCS Plant training is relevant to those operating Skid Steers (often referred to as Bob Cats) in a construction environment. CPCS training courses are designed to lead to Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) qualifications which allow those holding a valid qualification to carry a CPCS card.

CPCS Skid Steer training can be taken by both novice and experienced operators of the machine. This CPCS category is deemed ‘On Centre’ so must be taken at an accredited CPCS training centre.

Foundation/Novice courses are typically 4 days in duration.

For those who have 2 or more years’ constant and recent experience on the Skid Steer, an Experienced Worker course may be more suitable. This course is 2 days in duration and will consist of theory training on the first day and your CPCS theory and practical technical tests on the second day.

For all CPCS categories, the CPCS theory test is a verbal questions and answer session which will take approximately an hour to complete. The CPCS practical test for the Skid Steer must be completed within 75 minutes and will consist of the candidate using the machine to complete a variety of activities and manoeuvres including loading the machine.

* Please note that for all CPCS tests, candidates must have successfully completed the CSCS Health, Safety and Environment touchscreen test for Operatives within the past two years.

CSCS Health & Safety tests can be booked through Central Construction Training to be taken at our Cannock, West Midlands test centre
